The Newfoundland and Labrador Regional Economic Development Association (NLREDA) was incorporated in 2003 and represents the 19 Regional Economic Development Boards (REDBs) in Newfoundland and Labrador as well as the Government of Nunatsiavut which performs the REDB role in Northern Labrador, NLREDA’s Core Functions are:
1. Partnerships: NLREDA partner with federal government departments and agencies, provincial government departments and agencies, as well as national and provincial organizations to further regional economic development in Newfoundland and Labrador.
2. Communications: NLREDA promotes and facilitates internal communications with its membership while employing strategic communications and marketing approaches externally.
3. Advocacy: NLREDA advocates on behalf of the REDBs on Provincial issues of common concern.
4. Research: NLREDA provides research assistance and support to its membership for any initiative that falls under the core functions of the association. Generally this will include issues that are Provincial in scope r affect numerous boards / regions of the Province
5. Human Resource and Organizational Development and Board Governance: NLREDA provides human resource and organizational development assistance to its membership.
6. Coordination: NLREDA assists its membership and partners in coordinating provincial initiatives related to regional economic development.
Beyond REDBs and the Nunatsiavut government, NLREDA stakeholders include: individual Municipalities and Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador, individual Community Business Development Centres the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Community Business Development Centres, Canada / Newfoundland and Labrador Business Service Centre, industry Newfoundland ad Labrador Rural Development Council, other economic development agencies and organizations, business, educational institutions, labour groups, Finaly!, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development (INTRD), Rural Secretariat of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the general public.
