Partnership Development

Strong partnerships are necessary for the viability of any not for profit organization. The following materials provide information on maintaining successful partnerships.

The Partnering Toolbook

A comprehensive guide by Ros Tennyson that is in three parts:

The Brokering Guidebook

The Partnering Toolbook produced in 2004 and now widely used in different parts of the world in its many different language versions, was written to support those involved as partners in cross-sector sustainable development initiatives. This, its sister publication, has a different focus: partnership 'brokering'. Partnership brokering is that essential intermediary function that enables partners to work well together and ensure the maxium effectiveness of their partnership.

Presentation from RDEE

Presentation developed by RDEE and presented to NLREDA on April 4th, 2011.

 Case Study Toolbook

Case studies have a real potential to fill haps in our knowledge about how partnerships function and to ensure to information about what works, and what does not is disseminated more widely. Opportunities for genuine learning to date have been minimal as most partnership case studies are, at best, too sector-focused and, at worst, inadequate in coverage and style.

Talking The Walk

The first seven chapters of Talking the Walk look in detail at the realities of communicating in partnership. As well as narrative, each chapter contains a number of boxes and tables giving examples or 'practitioner tips'.

Moving On Toolbook

This guide is focused less on providing guidelines for closure and more on understanding the evolving process within and beyond the boundaries of the partnership. The guide will assist partnership practitioners in adding to their body of knowledge and practice of managing partnerships.
